Brock Purdy, Deommodore Lenoir, and Six More Selected as 2025 Team Captains

The San Francisco 49ers are officially kicking off the 2025 NFL regular season with the announcement of their eight team captains. Voted by their teammates for their leadership, this year's group includes several returning captains, TE George Kittle, LB Fred Warner, T Trent Williams, RB Christian McCaffrey, QB Brock Purdy, DL Nick Bosa, and FB Kyle Juszczyk, alongside first-time captain DB Deommodore Lenoir. Head coach Kyle Shanahan delivered the news on Wednesday during his first press conference of the practice week.

Kittle, Warner, and Williams will once again wear the gold "C" to recognize five or more years served as a team captain. Williams, formerly with the Washington Commanders, has been named a captain for 13 of his 16 NFL seasons, and 2025 marks his sixth season in this role with San Francisco. Kittle has now been voted in as a captain every year of his playing career outside of his rookie season.

Lenoir, drafted by the 49ers in the fifth round in 2021, earns his first captain role this season after establishing himself as a key defensive leader over the past four years, recording six interceptions, 26 passes defended, and 265 total tackles in his career so far.
