The San Francisco 49ers powered through cold temperatures, swirling winds, and a physical Cleveland Browns defense to secure a 26–8 victory on the road in Week 13. Here are five takeaways from the Week 13 win:

Purdy Stayed Steady

In a game defined by heavy wind and Cleveland winter weather, Brock Purdy delivered a poised performance. The quarterback finished 16-of-29 for 168 yards, threw a touchdown, and added another on the ground. He connected with TE George Kittle on explosive gains, moved the offense efficiently following turnovers, and protected the ball throughout. Purdy's 2-TD day (one passing, one rushing) helped the 49ers control the tempo in Cleveland.

Making Plays

San Francisco's offensive playmakers turned short fields into points and created explosive gains. RB Christian McCaffrey opened the scoring with a goal-line touchdown following Skyy Moore's 66-yard punt return. Purdy added a rushing touchdown in the third quarter, keeping the ball on a designed run to extend the lead. In the fourth, WR Jauan Jennings finished off another short field with a seven-yard touchdown grab. Kittle ignited multiple drives with highlight-worthy catches, while receivers Ricky Pearsall and Jennings contributed key first downs that kept the offense moving.

Ferrell Goes Fishing

DL Clelin Ferrell delivered one of the standout defensive performances of the day. He recorded a 13-yard sack in the second quarter that halted a Browns drive and flipped momentum back to San Francisco. Ferrell added another sack late in the game and consistently set the edge against the run, leading the team with nine tackles. On top of his 2.0 sacks and team-high in tackles, Ferrell notched two QB hits and two tackles-for-loss.

Defense Dominated on Key Downs

Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh's unit held Cleveland out of the end zone after the first quarter and consistently shut down the run with contributions from Malik Mustapha, Ji'Ayir Brown, Jordan Elliott, and Curtis Robinson. One of the defining sequences came on a fourth-and-one stop in 49ers territory, where Mustapha and Elliott combined to drive the Browns runner for a loss. Linemen Keion White and Ferrell added timely sacks, and the Browns final possessions repeatedly ended with punts, sacks, or turnover-on-downs attempts that the 49ers capitalized on.

Special Teams Creates Explosive Plays

San Francisco's special teams unit delivered game-changing moments that shaped the afternoon. Moore's 66-yard punt return in the first quarter set up the opening touchdown and gave the 49ers early momentum. In the fourth quarter, Darrell Luter Jr. recovered a muffed punt at Cleveland's 18 yard-line, setting up Jennings' touchdown. Kicker Matt Gay remained reliable, converting field goals from 25 and 31 yards to extend the lead.
