Playing in one of the league's toughest road environments, the San Francisco 49ers outlasted the Philadelphia Eagles in a 23–19 victory on Wild Card Weekend, punching their ticket to the Divisional Round.
In a game that swung back and forth, San Francisco leaned on clutch playmakers and a next-man-up mentality to close it out late in the fourth quarter.
Here are five takeaways from the postseason win in Philadelphia:
Robinson Ignites the Offense
Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson set the tone from the opening drive, emerging as quarterback Brock Purdy's most reliable target throughout the afternoon. Robinson led the team with 111 receiving yards and found the end zone on a short touchdown grab in the first quarter, capping off a drive sparked by his 61-yard reception down the middle of the field.
McCaffrey Does It All
Running back Christian McCaffrey delivered another all-around performance when the 49ers needed it most. He led the team in rushing with 48 yards, added 66 yards through the air, and scored two critical touchdowns in the fourth quarter. McCaffrey's versatility was on full display and ultimately helped San Francisco regain the lead late and seal the win.
Defensive Backs Make Their Presence Felt
San Francisco's defensive backs delivered timely plays throughout the game, particularly on third down. Safety Marques Sigle and defensive back Deommodore Lenoir each recorded eight tackles, while rookie cornerback Upton Stout added five stops and consistently challenged receivers in coverage. Stout's first-half pass breakup on fourth down halted an Eagles drive.
Linebackers Step Up
Shorthanded at linebacker, the 49ers received standout efforts from Garret Wallow and Eric Kendricks, who stepped into expanded roles with Fred Warner, Nick Martin, Tatum Bethune, Dee Winters, and Luke Gifford sidelined. Wallow led the team with 11 tackles and added a pass defended, while Kendricks finished with 10 tackles, two tackles for loss, and a pass breakup. Their physicality was key in keeping the Eagles in check during critical stretches.
Highlight of the Night: Jennings to McCaffrey
The defining play of the afternoon came in the fourth quarter, when wide receiver Jauan Jennings delivered a perfectly placed touchdown pass to McCaffrey for a 29-yard score. The trick play gave San Francisco the lead to start the fourth quarter.
With the win, San Francisco advances to the NFC Divisional Round. As the lowest seed in the conference, the 49ers will face the top seed team, the Seahawks. San Francisco and Seattle will meet for the third time this season, the 49ers taking the first matchup and the Seahawks taking the second. The winner of the Divisional Round will advance to the NFC Championship, the final round ahead of Super Bowl LX at Levi's® Stadium.
Time, date, and broadcast information for the 49ers vs. Seahawks Divisional Round contest will be announced following the conclusion of the NFL's Wild Card Weekend.
