The San Francisco 49ers return to Levi's® Stadium in Week 17 to host the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Fans can look forward to the team's return from an on the road win, "Sunday Night Football" entertainment fun including a laser show, play-by-play broadcaster Greg Papa, and the fan-favorite corgi race.
Here's what to look for in Sunday's Week 17 game:
Levi's® Takes Center Stage - Arrive Early
"Sunday Night Football" returns to Levi's® Stadium as the 49ers host the Chicago Bears in primetime. Fans are encouraged to arrive at least 30-90 minutes before kickoff to avoid entry lines and ensure they're in their seats for the full pregame experience. Upon entering the gates, all fans will receive light-up wristbands presented by U.S. Bank, which will sync together and illuminate throughout the game. The wristbands will activate during key moments, becoming part of the stadium-wide show under the lights. Halftime will feature a laser show projected directly onto the field, presented by Cisco, adding another layer to the primetime atmosphere. With national attention on Santa Clara, Levi's® Stadium is set for one of its biggest nights of the season.
Bears Week 17 Outlook
The Chicago Bears enter Week 17 at 11-4 with a chance to clinch the NFC North and strengthen their position in a crowded NFC playoff picture. Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is coming off back-to-back efficient outings, totaling 480 passing yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions over his last two games while leading the NFL with six fourth-quarter comebacks this season. Chicago's defense has been just as impactful, leading the league with 31 takeaways and a plus-21 turnover differential. Offensively, the Bears have leaned into a balanced attack, ranking second in the NFL in rushing yards per game behind the dual-headed backfield of D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai. With a win, or a Green Bay loss to Baltimore on Saturday night, Chicago would clinch the NFC North and keep its NFC No. 1 seed hopes alive.
49ers Week 17 Outlook
The San Francisco 49ers enter Sunday night riding a five-game winning streak and fresh off a statement 48-point win on "Monday Night Football." QB Brock Purdy has caught fire at the right time, throwing eight touchdowns over his last two starts while leading the NFL in third-down passer rating. San Francisco's offense has been nearly unstoppable in December, going 21 consecutive drives without a punt and averaging over 40 points per game in that span. RB Christian McCaffrey continues to anchor the unit, ranking first in the NFL in touches, second in scrimmage yards, and leading all running backs in receptions. Defensively, the 49ers are coming off a momentum-building performance that included first-career sacks from two DL rookies, C.J. West and Alfred Collins, and a game-sealing pick-six from LB Dee Winters. Unbeaten in primetime and battle tested in high-stakes moments, San Francisco now faces one of its biggest measuring-stick games of the season against another 11-win contender. A win would leave San Francisco one victory away from winning out and positioning itself atop the NFC West with the No. 1 seed still within reach.
Greg Papa Returns to Levi's®
Legendary play-by-play broadcaster Greg Papa will make his return to Levi's® Stadium on Sunday night, calling the game on KNBR. Papa stepped away from his broadcast duties in August after being diagnosed with cancer, choosing to focus on treatment and recovery. Earlier this week, the 49ers announced his return during KNBR's Papa & Silver show, marking an emotional milestone for the longtime voice of the team. "I'm back," Papa said, signaling his readiness to return to the booth. His presence will add a special element for 49ers fans and Papa's community during this primetime matchup. Fans can tune in to KNBR to hear Papa's iconic calls once again under the lights.
The Final Corgi Race Before the Finals
With one last race before championship weekend, the stakes, and cuteness, are at an all-time high as the fan-favorite Corgi Race returns in Week 17 on Sunday night. This is its final appearance before the season-ending full-field showdown. This week's race will feature a waddle sprint across the end zone between Rocket and Stubbs. Rocket brings elite speed and confidence to the track, known for his zoomies, competitive edge, and WR1-level instincts when treats are involved. Stubbs, a three-legged fan favorite with an even bigger heart, is all grit and personality, proving speed comes in many forms. The winner will move one step closer to the K9ers Corgi Cup, set for January 3rd or 4th, 2026, during halftime of the regular season finale against the Seattle Seahawks.
After the game, fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite corgi participants from throughout the whole year. Those votes will help determine which pups advance to the finals.
