San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey added another accolade to his 2025 resume, being named the FedEx Air and Ground Player of the Year during NFL Honors on Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco.
The award recognizes the NFL's most outstanding all-purpose offensive player, and McCaffrey earned the honor after delivering one of the league's most complete performances. His ability to dominate both as a runner and receiver made him a key weapon of the 49ers offense throughout the 2025 season.
McCaffrey started all 17 games and finished the season with 2,126 yards from scrimmage, the second-most in the NFL. He rushed 311 times for 1,202 yards and 10 touchdowns while also leading all running backs in receiving yards. McCaffrey hauled in a team-leading 102 receptions for 924 yards and seven receiving touchdowns, consistently creating matchup problems for opposing defenses.
McCaffrey also led the NFL with 119 total first downs gained and recorded four 100-yard rushing performances. He scored either a rushing or receiving touchdown in 12 games and became the first player in NFL history to record at least five rushing touchdowns and five receiving touchdowns in the same season.
