San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week following his dominant performance in the team's 26-21 win over the New Orleans Saints. The All-Pro paced the defense with 11 total tackles (seven solo), one pass defended, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in the Week 2 victory.
Warner's forced fumble against running back Alvin Kamara in the third quarter not only stalled a Saints drive but also tied a franchise milestone. The linebacker now has 16 career forced fumbles, matching Hall of Famer Patrick Willis for the most in 49ers history.
Warner, now in his eighth NFL season, has already collected four Pro Bowl selections and four All-Pro honors of his own. He has opened the 2025 campaign as the team's leading tackler with 19 total stops through two games.
