The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have signed QB Tanner Mordecai to a one-year deal. In order to make room on the roster, the team placed WR Equanimeous St. Brown on the Injured Reserve list.
Mordecai (6-2, 218) originally entered the NFL after signing with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2024. Mordecai signed to the 49ers practice squad on August 28, 2024 where he spent the season and was later waived by the team on August 4, 2025.
A 24-year-old native of Waco, TX, Mordecai attended the University of Wisconsin (2023) after transferring from Southern Methodist University (2021-22) and the University of Oklahoma (2018-20) where he completed 850 of his 1,281 passing attempts. for 9,856 yards and 85 touchdowns to go along with 238 rushes for 657 yards and eight touchdowns. As a junior in 2021, Mordecai earned Second Team All-AAC.
St. Brown (6-5, 214) originally signed to the team on August 5, 2025.
