The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have signed DL C.J. West to a four-year deal.
West (6-1, 316) was the first of two fourth-round draft picks (113th overall) selected by the 49ers in this year's draft out of Indiana. He appeared in 52 games (48 starts) over five seasons at Indiana (2024) and Kent State (2020-23) and registered 152 tackles, 27.0 tackles for loss, 9.0 sacks, two passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. In 2024, he started in 13 games and registered 42 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, one pass defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery, earning Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors. In 2023 at Kent State, he appeared in 12 games (11 starts) and notched 40 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and one forced fumble, earning Third-Team All-MAC honors. In 2022, he started in 10 games and registered 26 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack. In 2021, he started in 14 games and notched 43 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks, one pass defensed and one fumble recovery. As a freshman in 2020, he appeared in three games and registered one tackle before redshirting.
A 23-year-old native of Chicago, IL, West attended Nazareth Academy (La Grange Park, IL) High School.
