49ers Announce Roster Moves

The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have signed DL Trevis Gipson and RB Jeff Wilson Jr. to one-year deals. In order to make room on the roster, the team placed RB Ameer Abdullah on the Injured Reserve List and waived QB Tanner Mordecai. In addition, the team activated OL Andre Dillard off the Active/Physically Unable to Perform List.

Gipson (6-4, 263) was originally drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fifth round (155th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. Throughout his five-year NFL career with the Bears (2020-22), Tennessee Titans (2023), Jacksonville Jaguars (2024) and Seattle Seahawks (2024), he has appeared in 53 games (19 starts) and registered 78 tackles, 11.0 sacks, six forced fumbles, five passes defensed and one fumble recovery. In 2024, Gipson was traded from Jacksonville to Seattle on August 26, 2024, and went on to appear in five games with the Seahawks.

A 28-year-old native of Cedar Hill, TX, Gipson attended the University of Tulsa for four seasons (2016-19) where he appeared in 49 games and registered 114 tackles, 13.0 sacks, eight forced fumbles and two passes defensed.

Wilson Jr. (6-0, 213) originally signed with the 49ers as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 1, 2018. Throughout his seven-year NFL career with the 49ers (2018-22) and Miami Dolphins (2022-24), he has appeared in 72 games (16 starts) and registered 531 carries for 2,370 yards (4.5 average) and 18 touchdowns on the ground to go along with 74 receptions for 585 yards and five touchdowns through the air. He has also appeared in five postseason contests (one start) and totaled 10 carries for 23 yards and one touchdown and added three receptions for 39 yards. In 2024, Wilson Jr. appeared in nine games and tallied 16 carries for 57 yards on the ground and added three receptions for 19 yards through the air with Miami.

A 29-year-old native of Elkhart, TX, Wilson Jr. attended the University of North Texas where he appeared in 41 games (29 starts) during his four-year career with the Mean Green. He rushed for 3,205 yards and 32 touchdowns on 562 carries, while adding 70 receptions for 527 yards and two touchdowns. Wilson Jr. finished his career ranked third in school history in rushing touchdowns (32) and fourth in rushing yards (3,205). As a senior, he started all 11 games in which he appeared and notched 188 carries for 1,215 yards and 16 touchdowns to go along with 24 receptions for 168 yards.

Abdullah (5-9, 203) originally signed to the team on July 31, 2025 and Mordecai (6-2, 218) re-signed to the team on August 8, 2025.
