On this day, 49ers wide receiver Gene Washington and quarterback John Brodie combined for 160 yards through the air in San Francisco's 27-10 win over the New England Patriots.

Washington grabbed a 71-yard touchdown pass from Brodie in the fourth quarter to ice the game. It was the longest touchdown reception of the year by a 49ers player. Washington averaged 18 yards per catch in nine years with San Francisco.
