This Day in The Bay: Taylor Scores on a Blocked Field Goal Attempt

September 26, 1971

On this day, 49ers defensive back Bruce Taylor raced 58 yards to score after safety Johnny Fuller blocked a field goal attempt by New Orleans Saints kicker Skip Butler.

Taylor also returned a Saints field goal attempt 92 yards for a touchdown in 1970. San Francisco selected Taylor in the first round of the 1970 draft. Following his first season, he was named the NFC Defensive Rookie of the Year.
