NFC West Report: Offseason Update on Cardinals, Seahawks and Rams

The 49ers and Seahawks have a long history, going back to 1976. Here are photos from their 38 meetings.

Your San Francisco 49ers are counting down the days until training camp, which begins the final week of this month.

But so are their closest rivals.

To bring you up to speed on the 49ers NFC West rivals, here are the most important storylines to consider since the division's NFL Draft results in May and, before that, the schedule release fallout in April.

Arizona Cardinals

Summer news:Carson Palmer remains entrenched as the team's starting signal-caller after throwing 24 touchdowns against 22 interceptions in his first season in Arizona... Former quarterback Kurt Warner will be the newest member of the franchise's "Ring of Honor."

Seattle Seahawks

Summer news:Running back Marshawn Lynch, coming off his appearance in *ESPN The Magazine's *"Body Issue," had expressed a desire for a new contract. With two years remaining on his deal, he was present for the team's mandatory minicamp but didn't practice because of an ankle injury... Wideout Doug Baldwin has been moved from flanker to split end, where departed free agent Golden Tate assumed last year... Late last month, Seattle signed wide receiver Kevin Smith and released defensive tackle Andru Pulu.

St. Louis Rams

Summer news:Michael Sam, the first openly gay player in the NFL, postponed the documentary series he was set to be featured in on the Oprah Winfrey Network. Sam, a seventh-round draft pick, is competing to make the team as a pass-rusher... Quarterback Sam Bradford, who tore his ACL last season, took part in team drills during St. Louis' offseason program.
