Allen has deep family ties to the University of Arkansas football program starting with his father, Bobby. Bobby spent over 20 years with the program serving in a variety of roles. The elder Allen served as the position coach at points for the team's defensive line, linebackers, cornerbacks, and free safeties; he served two stints as the team's defensive coordinator (1998, 2000) and later served as the director of high school and NFL relations before retiring in 2020. Allen's younger brother, Aus-tin, followed in his footsteps by playing quarterback at the university. After Brandon left the school to enter the NFL following three years as the Razorbacks' starter, Austin took over the huddle and led the SEC with 3,430 passing yards and 25 touchdown passes in his first season under center.
During the 2021 NFL season, NFL players were able to support causes of their choice through the NFL's My Cause, My Cleats initiative. Allen chose to support the Alzheimer's Association as his grandmother suffers from the disease. "I'd love to find a cure so that no one has to watch the ones they love suffer with this disease," Allen said.
