NaVorro Bowman had a busy week, dropping into team headquarters in Santa Clara on Monday and making his way around the ESPN studios on Thursday.  He was seen at both places standing and walking upright without the use of crutches.

According to reports, Bowman is now "in Miami, working with the same trainer that guided the miraculous recovery of Vikings running back Adrian Peterson from ACL surgery. After that, Bowman intends to return to the South Bay where 49ers trainers will oversee the final stages of his rehab." It is important to temper expectations with a situation like this. The Peterson comeback was unprecedented, and the 49ers coaching and training staff wants to ensure they do not rush Bowman’s recovery.

2. What's on Draft?

The NFL Draft is a month away, and the time for speculation is now.  Will the 49ers stay put at pick No. 30 or use their stockpile of picks to trade up for a higher prospect? ESPN's draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. said he thinks the 49ers "can play the draft any way they feel comfortable. They can go either way depending on their board." Kiper went on to mention Odell Beckham Jr. of LSU, Brandin Cooks of Oregon State, and Kelvin Bemjamin of FSU as receivers that could be available to the 49ers at No. 30. No matter what you think Trent Baalke and Co. will do come draft day, one thing is clear: the 49ers have options.

3. Good Guy Patrick

Joe Staley has long been known as one of the great guys in sports. His leadership on the field is unquestioned, and it is evident even before the whistle sounds from the inspiring pregame speeches he delivers to his teammates. His actions off the field deliver similar inspiration. Willis added to his good-guy reputation on Friday by publicly acknowledging a young fan’s letter inviting him to her 7th birthday party, and the story quickly went viral. It's safe to say that after this, Willis will be receiving many more birthday invites in the near future, including multiple from the 49ers digital media staff…
