For the second time in his young NFL career, Nick Bosa is up for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week honors. Despite the conditions in the Week 7 win over the Washington Redskins, Bosa made a splash, racking up seven tackles, four for loss, a quarterback hit and a game-sealing sack that sent the entire 49ers sideline into a postgame slip-and-slide frenzy.
Bosa has been a substantial cog in the 49ers perfect start to open 2019. Through six games, the rookie has registered 16 total tackles, 10 quarterback hits, eight tackles, four sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He has been an instrumental part of San Francisco's defense that currently ranks first in passing yards, second in points and yards allowed per game and total defense.
The 49ers edge rusher is up against quarterback Gardner Minshew (Jacksonville Jaguars), running back Josh Jacobs (Oakland Raiders), safety Roderic Teamer (Los Angeles Chargers) and defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons (Tennessee Titans).
