You can learn a lot by following 49ers players on Twitter.

Right tackle Jonathan Martin proved this on Thursday afternoon by posting two messages about stopping an
in-progress robbery at a Los Angeles mall.

Later, he told Yahoo.com's "Shutdown Corner" that he helped a security guard subdue an alleged shoplifter.

"I didn't even think," said Martin, a 6-foot-5, 312-pound offensive lineman who started nine games in his first season in San Francisco. "I just reacted. It wasn't till later when (my friend) said, 'He could have had a gun.' I didn't even think about it. I just wanted to help."
