Defensive backs Jimmie Ward and Dontae Johnson are now teammates.
As it turns out, they were also roommates at the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine.
Ward, the San Francisco 49ers first-round draft pick, revealed the news on his Instagram account shortly after Johnson was selected in the fourth round.
"S/o to my new teammate D.Johnson," Ward wrote. "He was my roommate at the combine and we both sign with sport stars. Can't wait to play ball with this guy..he's a stud go follow him and welcome to the 49ers."
It wasn't the first time Ward and Johnson met. The two were also teammates on the North team at the 2014 Senior Bowl.
The 49ers logistics staff will also have Ward and Johnson rooming together when they begin offseason workouts next week. Ward arrived on Friday and Johnson is scheduled to fly in on Sunday.
