Forbes of Terra Nova is Week 2, HS Player of the Week

The 49ers High School Player of the Week Award for week 2 goes to Chris Forbes from Terra Nova High School in Pacifica.

This past Friday, the Terra Nova Tigers defeated the Pioneer Mustangs 49-7.

With a 0-2 start to their 2010 season, the Tigers knew that they needed consistency out of their offense to put them on the right path.  One thing that was definitely consistent for the Tigers against the Mustangs was the involvement of quarterback Chris Forbes in most of their scoring efforts.

Forbes threw for 257 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for 84 yards and one score.  Spreading the ball around, he threw touchdown passes to four different Tiger receivers and opened the game with a 70 yard touchdown strike on the game's first play.  This sort of scoring is a good sign with 7-8 juniors starting on offense for Tigers.  Both the coach and QB have not only a lot to look forward to this season, but next year as well.

While the offense lit up the score board, the defense held up their end by limiting Pioneer to just seven points, and scoring a touchdown of their own on one of their three interceptions.

Head Coach Bill Gray admits that, "we are known for our offense," but the coach was pleased with the entire team's performance.

For being a leader on the field, and carrying a 3.33 grade point average in the classroom, the 49ers honor Terra Nova quarterback Chris Forbes as this week's High School Player of the Week.

As the home school of the 49ers High School Player of the Week, Terra Nova High School will receive a $500 gift grant for their football program.  Forbes will receive a 49ers hat and t-shirt, a certificate signed by 49ers Head Coach Mike Singletary, two tickets to a 49ers home game and recognition on 49ers.com. At the end of the season, Forbes will be invited to the 49ers Training Facility to accept a trophy recognizing his achievement.
