Business is Booming: Jimmy Garoppolo in Top 2 of NFL Jersey Sales

As always, Jimmy Garoppolo is in high demand.

NFL Shop announced its top selling jerseys from April through mid-June, and the San Francisco 49ers quarterback trumped all but one of his colleagues to land at No. 2. In the quarterly release, Garoppolo fell only behind the sales of New York Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley. Garoppolo is one of eight quarterbacks to land in the top 10, and he's ahead of Carson Wentz (3), Tom Brady (4), Baker Mayfield (5), Nick Foles (6), Sam Darnold (7), Marcus Mariota (8) and Dak Prescott (9).

Signing his whopping five-year, $137.5 million extension in February could have played a role in his spike in sales. Garoppolo made the jump from 25th to second since January.

The 49ers also unveiled their new alternate jersey last month at the second annual State of the Franchise. The 1994 inspired throwback jersey did over $100,000 in sales over the first few days of its release. Garoppolo led the way, accounting for 63 percent of those sales, according to ESPN Business Reporter Darren Rovell.

The hysteria surrounding Jimmy G has created lofty expectations. Recently, NFL.com analyst David Carr ranked his top quarterbacks heading in to 2018. The former NFL QB ranked Garoppolo 10th, ahead of notable names like Ben Roethlisberger, Deshaun Watson and Wentz.

Garoppolo isn't the only member of the 49ers to move the needle in sales this offseason. Newcomer Richard Sherman rounded out the NFL's top jersey sales at No. 24.
