SEATTLE -- The San Francisco 49ers dropped their second straight game to open the 2017 season with a narrow, 12-9, loss to the Seattle Seahawks from CenturyLink Field.

San Francisco took a 9-6 lead in the fourth quarter, but a 9-yard touchdown from Russell Wilson to Paul Richardson regained Seattle's lead for good. The 49ers are still yet to find the end zone through two games. Here are Sunday's top takeaways.1. Pierre Garçon carried the 49ers offense in the first half. He turned seven carries into 102 yards, highlighted by a career long 61-yard run. Hyde later spun away from traffic and broke free for a 27-yard gain. His pair of long runs set up two first-half Robbie Gould field goals.

Hyde continued to churn out tough yards in the second half. He finished with 124 yards on just 15 carries. Hyde now has two 100-yard games in Seattle since 2012. Hyde chipped in with three catches for 19 yards. Matt Breida also had two impressive runs, gaining 11 and 13 yards on back-to-back carries on San Francisco's final scoring drive. The rookie had 35 yards on four carries.

2.** Pierre Garçon and the 49ers passing game struggled for a second straight week. Hoyer threw for just 47 yards in the first half and threw his second interception of the season. The quarterback missed a chance at a big play on the team's first possession, overthrowing an open Marquise Goodwin on play action. His interception was similar to the pick he threw in Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers. Hoyer didn't see Bobby Wagner in coverage, and he threw it right to the Seahawks middle linebacker.

The passing game didn't improve in the second half either. Goodwin had a costly drop inside the red zone that would have set up 1st-and-goal. Instead, the 49ers had to settle for their third field goal of the game. Hoyer threw for just 99 yards on 15-of-27 passing for a rating of 48.2. Pierre Garçon and Goodwin were the 49ers leading receivers with just three catches for 26 yards each.

3. San Francisco's defense was impressive throughout. The 49ers limited the Seahawks to just six first-half points despite being on the field for 20:47. The pass-rush played a large role in the group's overall success. San Francisco got consistent pressure on Russell Wilson throughout the game. Arik Armstead, Aaron Lynch and Garrett Celek all got sacks.

The run defense held its own as well until the game's final possession. Seahawks rookie running back Chris Carson picked up a few first downs to drain the clock and keep the ball away from the 49ers offense. Carson totaled 93 yards on 20 carries. Wilson had just 198 passing yards but did throw for the game-winning score. The quarterback added 34 yards on 12 carries. Tyler Lockett led the Seahawks with six catches for 64 yards.

NaVorro Bowman led the 49ers with 10 tackles. The 49ers defense was on the field for 36:58, compared to 23:02 for the Seahawks defense.

4. Eric Reid left the game in the second quarter with a left knee injury on a non-contact play. The injury appeared to be serious at first, but Reid later returned in the second half. He reaggrivated the injury in the third quarter, falling to the ground again and holding his left knee. Reid didn't return following that point.

5. The 49ers woes on third down continue. San Francisco's offense was just 2-of-12 on the money down.

6. San Francisco's lone blemish defensively was that they failed to get a takeaway despite getting their hands on a few of Wilson's passes. Regardless, it was a standout defensive performance from the 49ers.

7. Gould is a perfect 4-for-4 on field-goal attempts this season. He was good from 40, 37 and 34 yards on Sunday.
