49ers Snap Earth Day Global Selfie

Hey @NASA, here's a #GlobalSelfie from the #49ers. Happy #EarthDay. pic.twitter.com/6azc5HeKbg — San Francisco 49ers (@49ers) April 22, 2014

There's no debating the popularity of the #selfie.

Even NASA enlisted the frequently used social media self-portrait to honor Earth Day 2014.

NASA asked everyone on the planet to take photos, upload them to their social media platforms of choice and tag them with #GlobalSelfie.

The images will later be compiled into a planet-wide mosaic, which will be released by NASA in May.

Several San Francisco 49ers players gathered in the team's locker room to take part in the event.

Fullback Bruce Miller, with his left arm extended, captured the shot alongside teammates Kendall Hunter, Darryl Morris, Jewel Hampton and Marcus Lattimore.

Just like that, the 49ers wished everyone a happy Earth Day.
