49ers Snap Counts: Gerald Hodges, Daniel Kilgore See Expanded Use vs. Browns

As injuries continue to mount, new players are receiving opportunities for an increased role on Sundays.

Here are some of the most notable figures from the San Francisco 49ers 24-10 road loss to the Cleveland Browns.

A week ago, Daniel Kilgore played just six snaps in his season debut – none of which came at center. This time around, Kilgore was on the field at center for 42 snaps – or 75 percent of the time San Francisco had possession.

Marcus Martin started at the position for the 13th straight time this year, but after Alex Boone suffered a knee injury, the second-year lineman shifted over to left guard. Martin ended up playing 41 snaps.

With Garrett Celek (concussion) sidelined, rookie tight end Blake Bell played all 56 snaps as the lead tight end. Brian Leonhardt, promoted from the practice squad on Saturday, was on the field for 14 offensive plays.

Torrey Smith, who was questionable for the game with back and toe injuries, started on Sunday but was limited to just 27 snaps. Meanwhile, Quinton Patton played 32 snaps, Bruce Ellington had 19 and Jerome Simpson totaled 13.

On the other side of the ball, Corey Lemonier (56 snaps) and Eli Harold (29 snaps) combined to fill in at outside linebacker for the injured Aaron Lynch (concussion).

With Michael Wilhoite (ankle) out, Gerald Hodges was on the field for 71 snaps – or 91 percent of the time San Francisco was on defense. When Jimmie Ward (43 snaps) suffered an elbow injury in the second half, Dontae Johnson (seven), Marcus Cromartie (three) and Keith Reaser (one) picked up the slack.
