The San Francisco 49ers announced Thursday that they have signed 10-year NFL veteran Barry Sims. Terms of the contract were not announced by the team.

Sims (6-5, 300) was originally signed by the Oakland Raiders as a rookie free agent out of Utah in 1999. During his time with the Raiders he played at both guard and tackle, including 68 consecutive starts at left tackle. He has started 119 games during his NFL career, mainly at left tackle.

After joining the Raiders as a rookie in 1999, he wound up starting 10 games and became the full-time starter at left tackle in 2001. He was waived by Oakland on February 29.

Last season, Sims started all 16 games at left tackle for the Raiders.
