49ers Sign Owen Marecic; Williams to IR

The San Francisco 49ers placed nose tackle Ian Williams on the Injured Reserve List and signed fullback Owen Marecic to a one-year deal.

Williams, a three-year veteran, has played in six games (one start) and has registered 11 tackles. He originally joined the team as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame in 2011.

Marecic (6-0, 245), originally selected in the fourth round (124th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns.  In 24 career games (six starts), he has registered four carries for eight yards and five receptions for 31 yards. Marecic was released by the Browns on August 27.    

A 24–year-old native of Portland, OR, Marecic played collegiately at Stanford, where as a senior, was an All-Pac 10 Conference First-Team selection as a fullback and honorable mention as a linebacker. During his Cardinal career he rushed for 67 yards and nine touchdowns on 36 carries, while adding 25 receptions for 258 yards and one touchdown on offense. Marecic also notched 55 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and two interceptions on defense.
