The San Francisco 49ers announced on Tuesday that they have signed offensive lineman Garry Gilliam to a one-year deal.

Gilliam (6-5, 315) originally signed as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Seahawks on May 10, 2014. In three seasons with the Seahawks (2014-16), he appeared in 44 regular season games (30 starts) in addition to six postseason games (four starts) along the offensive line. In 2016, he saw action in 14 games (13 starts) and started both postseason contests for Seattle.

A 26-year-old native of Carlisle, Pa., Gilliam played collegiately at Penn State University from 2009-13, appearing in 27 games for the Nittany Lions. He began his career as a tight end, registering eight receptions for 86 yards before transitioning to an offensive lineman prior to the 2013 season.
