The San Francisco 49ers announced they have signed defensive lineman Glenn Dorsey to a two-year contract.

"We are very pleased to add Glenn to our team," said 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke. "Glenn brings great versatility to our defensive front, and we look forward to his contributions on the field and in the community."

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Dorsey (6-1, 297) with the fifth overall selection in the 2008 NFL Draft. Since that time, he has started 65 of the 66 games in which he has played during his five seasons with the Chiefs. In 2012, Dorsey played in four games and recorded seven tackles (four solo, three assists) before being placed on Injured Reserve on November 12. Over his five-year NFL career, he has registered 238 tackles (159 solo, 79 assists), four sacks, four fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and three passes defensed.

A 27-year-old native of Baton Rouge, LA, Dorsey starred collegiately at Louisiana State University where he played in 52 games (31 starts). As a senior in 2007, Dorsey was the recipient of the Lombardi, Lott, Nagurski and Outland Awards, after helping the Tigers to a victory in the BCS National Championship.
