49ers Sign FB Moran Norris

The San Francisco 49ers announced today the signing of FB Moran Norris. Terms of the contract were not announced by the team.

Norris (6-1, 250) enters his ninth NFL season and returns to the 49ers after spending the past year with the Detroit Lions, where he played in 11 games with eight starts. In his two previous seasons with San Francisco (2006-07), Norris helped RB Frank Gore rush for over 1,000 yards in consecutive seasons. Gore led the NFC in rushing in 2006 with 1,695 yards, which was followed by 1,102 yards on the ground in 2007.

In his career, Norris has tallied 27 catches for 147 yards and three touchdowns to go along with 11 carries for 26 yards. Originally a fourth-round draft choice (115th pick overall) in 2001 by New Orleans out of Kansas, Norris spent one season with the Saints before playing for the Houston Texans from 2002 to 2005. He has seen action in 103 games with 38 starts in his career.
