The San Francisco 49ers announced on Monday that they have signed TE Nate Byham to a four-year deal.

Byham (6-4, 265), was a sixth-round selection (182nd overall) by the 49ers in this year's draft from the University of Pittsburgh. A three-year starter at tight end, Byham saw action in 48 games (36 starts) during his career at Pitt. He was twice selected to the All-Big East teams by earning second-team honors his senior season by hauling in 10 receptions for 108 yards and first-team accolades as a junior with 20 receptions for 260 yards.

Byham attended Franklin (PA) High School, and was selected first-team all-state as a senior, becoming only the third player in school history to earn that accolade. He is the fourth of the 49ers eight 2010 draft picks to sign.
