49ers Sign DB Jimmy Wiliams

The San Francisco 49ers announced today the signing of DB Jimmy Williams. Terms of the contract were not announced by the team.

Williams (6-3, 220) was originally drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round (37th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech. In two seasons (2006-07) with Atlanta, Williams tallied 40 tackles, one interception and three passes defensed in 27 games played with seven starts, seeing action at both cornerback and safety. He spent the 2008 season out of football.
