The San Francisco 49ers announced they have signed CB Perrish Cox to a two-year contract.

"We are pleased to add Perrish to our team," said 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke. "As an organization, from ownership on down, we have done our due diligence and are confident that Perrish will be a positive contributor to the 49ers, as well as our community."

Cox (6-0, 198) was originally a fifth round draft pick by the Denver Broncos (137th overall) in the 2010 NFL Draft. Cox has played in 15 games (9 starts), tallying 54 tackles, two forced fumbles, one interception and ranked third among NFL rookies with a team-high 14 passes defensed, in 2010. A key special team's player, Cox made four tackles on special teams as well as returned nine kickoffs for 172 yards.

A 25-year-old native of Waco, TX, Cox starred collegiately at Oklahoma State where he earned first-team All-Big 12 Conference honors and was a finalist for the Thorpe Award (nation's best defensive back) after leading the country in pass breakups (19) in 2009. Cox finished his career at Oklahoma State with the third-most kickoff return yards in FBS history (2,804) along with a school-record four kickoff returns for touchdowns.
