The San Francisco 49ers announced that they have signed free agent T Barry Sims to a one-year deal.

Sims (6-5, 300) enters his 12th NFL season after originally being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Oakland Raiders in 1999. He has spent the past two seasons as a member of the 49ers, seeing action in 30 games with 15 starts. Sims started seven games at left tackle for San Francisco in 2009 in place of an injured T Joe Staley. A year prior, he started eight games at right tackle in place of an injured T Jonas Jennings. Sims spent his first nine NFL seasons as a member of the Oakland Raiders. He has seen action in a total of 166 games with 134 starts during his 11-year career.

A 35-year old native of Park City, UT, Sims starred collegiately at the University of Utah.
