49ers PREP selects Danny Jenkins as Week 5 Player of the Week

POW

As week 5 of the 2019 high school football season concludes, the Tamalpais Red Tailed Hawks, led by head coach Matthew LemMon, beat the San Rafael Bulldogs with a high score of 42-7.

Danny Jenkins (#53) had multiple plays throughout the night which helped lead the Hawks to victory. Jenkins is a 6'0", 184-pound adaptable player for the Tamalpais Red Tailed Hawks, who rotates between offense and defense. On Friday night Danny recorded 12 tackles, 8 carries for 68 yards and a touchdown.

Coach LemMon recalls starting the game off strong. "We started with no-huddle, run-plays and confidence," said LemMon. Their confidence carried on throughout the game, as they continued to have possession over the ball. After only three years of being the head coach for the varsity football team, Coach LemMon has cultivated a program people are starting to believe in. "There is just something different with this team," says Jenkins. "Every time we step out onto the field, we give 100%."

Although most people would describe Danny as quiet and humble, his aggression on the field and understanding of tackling technique is what makes him stand out. Jenkins is a multi-sport athlete who plays rugby in the spring to focus on improving his athletic abilities.

Even though Danny is only a junior in high school, he knows that helping others is passion of his. Danny hopes that he can turn this passion into a career opportunity after college.

"The one thing I want people to know about Danny is that he cares more about others more than himself," says Coach LemMon.

As the school of this week's recipient of the 49ers PREP High School Player of the Week Award presented by U.S. Bank, Tamalpais High School will receive a $500 grant towards its football program. As part of this award, Jenkins will receive two tickets to a 49ers home game where he will be recognized on the field during the pre-game ceremony. At the end of the season, Jenkins will be presented his award by 49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan during a closed practice at the SAP Performance Facility.

Congratulations, Danny!
