The San Francisco 49ers have placed S Darcel McBath on the Injured Reserve List. The team has also announced that they have claimed LB Joe Holland off waivers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
McBath originally signed with the 49ers on July 20, 2012. Last season, he appeared in all 16 games and all three postseason contests, and ranked second on the team in special teams production points (649).
Holland (6-1, 229) originally signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2012, and was later waived prior to the start of the regular season. He was signed to the Miami Dolphins practice on October 16, only to be released on October 23. Holland then spent time on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad, in 2012. Following the season, he signed with the Buccaneers on January 2, 2013, and was later waived on August 21.
A 25–year-old native of Indianapolis, IN, Holland played collegiately at Purdue, where he was a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. He finished his Boilermaker career with 324 tackles, 23.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and two interceptions.
