49ers Place Cook, Kilgore on IR; Sign Ventrone

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Saturday that they have placed cornerback Chris Cook and center Daniel Kilgore on the Injured Reserve List. The team has also signed safety Bubba Ventrone to a one-year deal.

Cook signed with the 49ers on March 14, 2014 and registered three tackles and one pass defensed in six games this season. He also added two tackles on special teams.

Originally drafted in the second round (34th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings, Cook has appeared in 40 games (29 starts) and registered 124 tackles, 34 passes defensed and one sack in his career.

Cook, 27, played collegiately at the University of Virginia.

Originally drafted in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft, Kilgore has played in 40 games (seven starts) over the past four seasons, including starts in each of the team's seven games this season.

Kilgore, 26, played collegiately at Appalachian State University.
