49ers Launch Snapchat Account During NFL Draft

The 49ers are now on Snapchat… in a big way.

There weren't too many days in the offseason bigger than April 30, 2015 as far as the digital team is concerned. Not only was it the first day of the 2015 NFL Draft, but the 49ers also held a draft party, unveiled the first alternate jersey in team history and debuted live programming in the form of a new show, "49ers Live."

It was all captured via Snapchat.

The opening post began with the first glimpse at the black and red alternate jerseys as the entire team watched. Drapes were pulled off of five mannequins to reveal the new look.

The first image, a screen shot taken from the "officialSF49ers" Snapchat account, spread quickly across social media. Then, it appeared in articles by SportingNews, The Washington Post and CBSsports.com.

After the initial reveal, team reporter Joe Fann "took the keys to the 49ers Snapchat account" at the 49ers Draft Party, presented by Bud Light.

The event was held at the nearby Great America theme park. Fann captured the atmosphere at the event and performances by the 49ers Gold Rush cheerleaders. He also followed quarterback Colin Kaepernick, dressed in the new black jersey, onto the stage to reveal the full uniform to the fans.

The story from the first day of the draft received more than 21,000 views by the end of the day.

Stay tuned for more and tell your friends. Happy snapping, you crazy millennials.

UPDATE: MAY 2

Our Snapchat team also documented first-round pick Arik Armstead' arrival to team heaquarters.

His day began by meeting head coach Jim Tomsula and touring the 49ers Museum, presented by Sony, before meeting the media.
