The 49ers Ladies First group, consisting of players' wives and significant others, coaches' wives and 49ers players and staff cleaned out their closets today to provide aid for the Hurricane Katrina victims. Seventy-seven boxes of clothes, shoes, hygiene products, infant products, school supplies and more were collected.

"It went better than expected," said Erika Widmark, Adam Snyder's fiancé. "The items just kept coming in. Men and women clothing seems to be the most popular item."

She spoke just in time as QB Tim Rattay dropped off bags of clothing. "It's for a good cause. It's great to give people the stuff that they need in these times. It's great to help out when we can."

Bryant and Kristin Young, Andre and Bethany Carter, Eric and Emily Heitmann, Adam Snyder and fiancé Erika Widmark, Tim Rattay, Tiffany Plummer, Lori Warhop and Kim Singletary all brought donations and some helped sort and pack throughout the day.

Donated items were dropped off at the 49ers Facility today. The collected items will be sorted and boxed and delivered to a local FedEx Freight office. The donated items will then be shipped to the home of Deion and Pilar Sanders in Dallas, TX. The Sanders have opened their home as a donation site. They, along with other NFL players, NBA Wives Association, local retired athletes and the Professional Football Players Mothers Association will deliver the much needed items to local hotels and shelters in Texas.
