The San Francisco 49ers announced Saturday that they have signed DE Justin Smith as an unrestricted free agent from the Cincinnati Bengals. Terms of the contract were not announced.

Smith (6-4, 275) enters his eighth NFL season with a streak of 107 consecutive starts after originally being drafted in the first round (4th pick overall) of the 2001 Draft out of the University of Missouri by the Cincinnati Bengals. During his sevens seasons with Cincinnati, Smith saw action in 111 games with 107 starts, missing only one game due to contract negotiations as rookie. He has led the Bengals defensive line in tackles in each of the past six seasons and has posted at least six sacks in five of his seven seasons played. In his career, Smith has tallied 627 tackles, 43.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, two interceptions and 15 passes defensed.
