The San Francisco 49ers announced Wednesday that they have signed CB Tarell Brown to a three-year contract extension.

Brown, in his third year with the 49ers, has played in 30 career games (one start) and has registered 17 tackles, two interceptions and four passes defensed. He has also notched 28 career special teams tackles. In 2008, Brown earned the team's Thomas Herrion Award, given annually to the rookie or first-year player who best exemplifies Herrion's spirit.

Brown, a 24-year-old native of Mesquite, TX, was originally drafted in the fifth round (147th overall) in the 2007 NFL Draft from the University of Texas.
