Head coach Mike Nolan hired Mike Martz as his offensive coordinator on Tuesday, and also announced the release of a few others on his coaching staff including offensive assistant/offensive line coach Mark Nori and running backs coach Bishop Harris.

"These are very difficult decisions that impact the lives of coaches and their families," said Nolan. "But after meeting with all our coaches, I determined that it was necessary to make these changes."

Harris spent three years coaching the 49ers, while Nori joined the 49ers last off-season after working at the University of Akron.

Quarterbacks coach Frank Cignetti has also left the 49ers to take the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Cal. Cignetti joined the 49ers staff last March after Jim Hostler was promoted from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator.

Ted Tollner will return next year after being hired late in the season as an offensive consultant. His role has yet to be determined.
