The San Francisco 49ers have claimed wide receiver Charly Martin off waivers.

Martin (6-1, 212) originally signed with the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2009, before being waived prior to the start of the regular season. He was signed to the Carolina Panthers practice squad four days later, before being promoted to the active roster on November 17. Martin went on to spend the 2009 and 2010 seasons with the Panthers, appearing in eight games, registering one reception for six yards and contributing seven tackles on special teams. After being waived by Carolina on September 3, 2011, he had a brief stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars before signing with Seattle on January 5, 2012. Martin appeared in four games (one start) and caught four passes for 42 yards, last season, with the Seahawks.

A 29–year-old native of Walla Walla, WA, Martin attended Piedra Vista High School. He played collegiately at West Texas A&M, where he set school records with 244 catches for 4,108 yards and 44 touchdowns.
