The San Francisco 49ers and Venardi Zurada are proud to announce the launch of Takeaways for Troops, a new cause awareness campaign dedicated to supporting nonprofits that provide vital services to military members and veterans, this year's recipient is Operation: Care and Comfort.
Through this initiative, every defensive takeaway—whether it's an interception or a fumble recovery—will translate into a meaningful donation to organizations serving our nation's heroes. The more turnovers the 49ers defense forces throughout the season, the greater the impact.
For perspective, in the 2024 season the 49ers defense recorded 17 total takeaways. At $949 per takeaway, this would equal an incredible $16,133 donated to benefit military and veteran support programs.
Operation: Care and Comfort (OCC) is so honored to have been chosen as the beneficiary of the first Takeaways for Troops campaign. "Deeds, not Words" is what we live by, and Venardi Zurada's military initiatives, including Takeaway for Troops, shows that they are sincere about their commitment to supporting those serving in the military and veterans.
Venardi Zurada holds the highest respect for the men and women who have served our country. Supporting our military and veterans is both a privilege and a responsibility that we take to heart. Mark Venardi is a veteran, both of his grandfathers were veterans, his father was a veteran, both of his brothers are veterans, his son is a veteran and his nephew is a veteran. It is an honor to contribute not only through financial donations, but also by volunteering our time to work directly with organizations such as Operation Care and Comfort, that serve those who have sacrificed so much.
Fans can follow along all season as the 49ers defense stacks up takeaways and drives support for the military and veterans who inspire us every day.
