49ers and FC Gold Pride Strike Gold with New Partnership

The San Francisco 49ers and FC Gold Pride, the Bay Area Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) team, announced their official partnership on Monday.

Through the unique partnership that joins two professional sports franchises, the 49ers and Pride and will exchange a number of valuable assets including an in-stadium presence at numerous home games and player appearances, as well as shared opportunities for future community based events.

The partnership of football and futbol offers both teams an opportunity to broaden the reach of their team, marketing and community initiatives.

"This partnership provides us an even greater avenue to reach our fans and show our support and recognition of Bay Area female athletics," said 49ers Team President Jed York. "We are excited to have the FC Gold Pride join the list of Bay Area teams and look forward to collaborating with them in our community."

"To have an established and respected organization like the 49ers recognize the tremendous opportunity FC Gold Pride and the WPS presents is very encouraging," said FC Gold Pride General Manager Ilisa Kessler. "The 49ers have been welcoming to us and supportive of our team and efforts. We are proud to call them our partner. The Santa Clara based teams have previously co-hosted numerous events and promotions including a community caravan in March of 2009, which visited local elementary schools, and T.H.I.N.K. Gold, a symposium for young women that focused on training, health, inspiration, nutrition and knowledge.

FC Gold Pride is currently competing in the inaugural season of Women's Professional Soccer. The Bay Area team features local and international stars including soccer icon Brandi Chastain, US Soccer Stars Tiffeny Milbrett, Leslie Osborne, Rachel Buehler and Nicole Barnhart and international talent from Brazil, Japan and Canada.
