Today, Al Guido, CEO of the San Francisco 49ers, and Zaileen Janmohamed, President & CEO of the Bay Area Host Committee, wrote a joint thank you letter to Bay Area residents, following an impactful week of events and a successful Super Bowl LX. The letter reads:
Dear Neighbors,
For an entire week, the world turned its eyes on the Bay Area. Super Bowl LX showcased this region's rich culture, diverse communities, forward-thinking attitude, and the natural beauty that is unique to The Bay.
Hosting a Super Bowl is no small feat. It asks a lot of its host region - and as you always do, you rose to the moment. You welcomed more than 90,000 visitors with warmth, patience, and a spirit of hospitality that defines what it means to call the Bay Area home. Whether you opened your business to guests, celebrated at one of the 300+ events across the region, or simply chose public transportation instead of your car for a few days, thank you for making Super Bowl LX a success.
Because of you, the impact of the Super Bowl extended far beyond the game itself.
The week generated meaningful philanthropic investment across our communities. Together, the 49ers Foundation, Bay Area Host Committee Foundation, and NFL Foundation distributed $8.2 million back into the Bay Area.
Over 10 days, the 49ers Foundation activated at more than 70 events across the region, and announced the largest single contribution in its history - an investment of more than $3 million into a local Santa Clara athletic field. The BAHC's workforce development program, Bridge to Work, placed close to 300 individuals on career advancement pathways, and its Sports for All initiative contributed to several new play spaces with the goal of building one in each of the nine counties of the Bay Area.
The Super Bowl also created real economic opportunity. Nearly 5,000 jobs were created or sustained across the region and more than 100,000 hotel rooms were booked, injecting a total of approximately $500 million into the Bay Area economy.
For us, leaving a lasting impact on our communities is just as important as what happens on the field. And the best part is, this is only the beginning.
This summer, the world's eyes will once again turn to us when the FIFA World Cup arrives in the Bay Area. With it will come new opportunities to come together, celebrate, and build on what we've started. There is more ahead — more moments, more impact, and more chances to show the world what makes this place so special.
Thank you for opening your streets, your communities, and your hearts. We are deeply grateful to be your partners, and proud to call the Bay Area home.
With gratitude,
Zaileen Janmohamed, President & CEO, Bay Area Host Committee
Al Guido, CEO, San Francisco 49ers & President of the Board, Bay Area Host Committee
