The San Francisco 49ers announced they have activated WR Jerome Simpson from the Reserve/Suspended List. In order to make room on the roster, the team has placed S Antoine Bethea on the Injured Reserve List.

Simpson (6-2, 190) was originally a second round (46th overall) selection by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2008 NFL Draft and signed with the 49ers on March 5, 2015. He has played in 57 games (36 starts) with the Bengals (2008-11) and Minnesota Vikings (2012-13), and has recorded 145 receptions for 2,004 yards and eight touchdowns.

Bethea (5-11, 206) started in each of the team's 23 games since signing with the 49ers on March 11, 2014. During his time with San Francisco, Bethea has registered four interceptions and 12 passes defensed and was selected to the 2015 Pro Bowl. A 10-year veteran, he has started in all 146 games in which he has appeared.
