Jonathan Dickey is in his second year with the 49ers and his first as an assistant athletic trainer/physical therapist. Dickey spent the 2022 season as a seasonal athletic training intern with the team. He is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, a certified athletic trainer, a Board-Certified Orthopedic Specialist (OCS), a Sports Certified Specialist (SCS), a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT) and a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
Prior to his time with the 49ers, Dickey took part in post-professional training at Kaiser Permanente as an Orthopedic Resident and Sports Fellow (2017-19). In 2019, he completed a Movement and Performance Fellowship at Azusa Pacific University, prior to earning his master's degree in athletic training from APU in 2022. While earning his master's, he served as a physical therapist at Motus Specialists (2020) and Quantum Performance (2021), which specializes in rehabilitation and performance analysis of NFL, NBA and MLB players.
A native of Laurel, NE, Dickey earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Saint Mary in 2016. As an undergraduate, he attended Morningside College where he was a member of the football team before transferring to Wayne State University where he ran track & field and received his bachelor's degree in applied human and sport physiology in 2009. Dickey currently resides in Sunnyvale, CA.
