Ekene Olekanma is in his second season with the 49ers and his first as coordinator, football R&D. Olekanma primarily works on analytical projects for the coaching staff, including self-scouting and opponent research. Additionally, Olekanma works on metric creation and player evaluation tasks. He joined San Francisco as an analyst, football R&D in 2022.
Prior to joining the 49ers, Olekanma spent the 2021 season in a coaching R&D analyst role with the Baltimore Ravens. During his time with the Ravens, Olekanma primarily worked on football research tasks/studies while working closely with the linebacker and defensive line positions.
A native of Chicago, IL, Olekanma completed his master's degree in data science from DePaul University. He earned his bachelor's degree in bioengineering and biomedical engineering from the University of Toledo, where he played inside linebacker for four years (2014-18). Olekanma currently resides in Santa Clara, CA, with his girlfriend, Kendall, their dog, Gigi, and cat, Lola.
