49ers Promote WR Steven Dunbar Jr. to the Active Roster

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Wednesday that they have promoted wide receiver Steven Dunbar Jr. to the active roster from the team's practice squad.

Dunbar Jr. (6-3, 202) was originally signed by the 49ers as an undrafted rookie free agent on April 30, 2018 out of the University of Houston. He was waived on September 1 and signed to the team's practice squad the following day.

A 23-year-old native of Metairie, LA, Dunbar Jr. appeared in 51 games (38 starts) during his four-year career at Houston, where he registered 180 receptions for 2,430 yards and 11 touchdowns. As a senior in 2017, he started all 12 games and registered 76 receptions for a team-high 1,070 yards and three touchdowns and earned All-American Athletic Conference Honorable Mention honors.

Dunbar Jr. will wear number 19.
