The San Francisco 49ers announced on Saturday that they have activated running back Mike Davis from the Injured Reserve/Designated for Return List to the 53-man roster. In order to make room on the roster, the team placed linebacker Michael Wilhoite on the Injured Reserve List.

Davis (5-9, 217) was originally drafted by the 49ers in the fourth round (126th overall) of this year's NFL Draft. He registered 47 total yards (24 rushing and 23 receiving) in five games on offense this season prior to being placed on the Injured Reserve/Designated for Return List on November 7.

A 22-year-old native of Stone Mountain, GA, Davis played collegiately at the University of South Carolina, where he appeared in 37 games (21 starts) and rushed for 2,440 yards and 22 touchdowns on 454 carries for the Gamecocks.

Wilhoite (6-0, 240) started in each of the team's first 12 games on the season and registered 86 tackles, one interception and one pass defensed.
