Biography

PERSONAL:

  • Comes from an athletic family as his father, Gordon Jones, played tennis at Florida State University before transferring to Flagler College. In May of 1977, Gordon was on the cover of Sports Illustrated as the magazine's "Athlete of the Week." He won the 1977 NAIA Singles Championship and 1977 Double Championship as well as an NAIA National Championship. He was later inducted into the Flager Athletics Hall of Fame in 2004. His mother, Holly, also played tennis at Mercer University, while his sister, Sarah Jane, played tennis at the College of Charleston from 2014-18 and his brother, Will, played soccer at Mercer University.
  •  Community service is a point of emphasis in the Jones family, as Mac volunteered at charitable events as early as five years old. With Super Bowl XXXIX played in his hometown of Jacksonville, Jones and his mother volunteered for the NFL Wives Fashion Show benefiting a school for children with disabilities. 
  •  During the lead-up to the Draft, Jones volunteered at the College of Human Environmental Studies at The University of Alabama's RISE Center, where infants and children both with and without special needs receive an immersive education. • Has two siblings: Sarah and Will.
  • Jones has spent his time serving different communities during his time in the NFL. He enjoys spending his time with children in the community. He has participated in different special education events, mental health awareness and local YMCA programs. Jones has enjoyed his past involvement with events like Night to Shine and different local fashion shows for those who have special needs. These opportunities have allowed Jones to connect with different communities and help highlight his passions for helping those off the field.
  •  Jones spends his offseason in Jacksonville where he enjoys golfing and fishing. His sister, Sarah lives in Bermuda with her husband. While visiting his sister, he has participated in deep sea fishing and has loved his time doing so.
  • After his time in the NFL, Jones plans to use his communication and sports business degree to potentially branch into the world of broadcast.
