The final day of the 2018 NFL Draft has come to a close, and the San Francisco 49ers acquired five new rookies to culminate Day 3: Defensive lineman Kentavius Street, cornerback D.J. Reed, safety Marcell Harris, defensive tackle Jullian Taylor and wide receiver Richie James.
Take a look around the Twittersphere at the social media reactions to the 49ers Day 3 picks.
The San Francisco 49ers select Kentavius Street, DE, NC State. He racked up 20 tackles resulting in a defensive stop in 2017
— Pro Football Focus (@PFF) April 28, 2018
The #49ers clearly believe in Kentavius Street's potential down the road.
— Joe Fann (@Joe_Fann) April 28, 2018
It's also another indicator that they are bought in on Cassius Marsh, Jeremiah Attaochu and Eli Harold off the edge in 2018.
#NCState has set a school record with 7 players picked in the draft. Six of those guys are from their 2014 recruiting class which was ranked No. 34 at the time. Only one signee in that class (Kentravius Street) was ranked above a 3-star. Great testament to eval AND development.

The #49ers are quietly having a heck of a draft.
— J.R. (@JReidDraftScout) April 28, 2018
Kentavius Street's highest graded game last year was actually the East-West Shrine Game where he had two sacks and eight total pressures. #49ers

All four #NCState D-linemen go in the first four rounds. 49ers just grabbed Kentavius Street ...One of the Freakiest guys in this draft. Got injured at the Combine but is a very intriguing talent: https://t.co/90PSrloOw8

#NCState DL Kentavius Street at 6-2, 283; runs an electronic 4.58 40; verticals 40 inches & he just squatted 700. EASY #Freak pic.twitter.com/wmJnWKmze9

The #49ers have added a ton of speed in this year's draft.

Notable 40 times of a few picks:
DB Tarvarious Moore - 4.32
LB Fred Warner - 4.64
DL Kentavious Street - 4.87
CB D.J. Reed - 4.51
DT Jullian Taylor - 4.83
The 49ers add secondary help in D.J. Reed. He didn’t allow a reception longer than 30 yards in 2017, and surrendered a passer rating of 55.5 when targeted

Yessssssss !!!! @D7_Reed is going to San Francisco @49ers !!!!!!! pic.twitter.com/EmbJ9FuEDC

At 5-foot-9, D.J. Reed is shorter than the usual profile of a corner in the #49ers system (5-foot-9), but he still has plenty of length with almost 32-inch arms.

#49ers nailed it with D.J. Reed. He's a quality corner who plays with an edge. Legit click-and-close from off. Might play in the slot there. He will come up vs the run, but needs to be more assignment sound
— Jon Ledyard (@LedyardNFLDraft) April 28, 2018
Correction: Reed did allow one catch per 12.3 coverage snaps, but that was not highest in draft class (my apologies!) Allowed just a 55.5 passer rating last season. Played mostly at RCB last year, but would project to slot CB.

Newest #49ers CB D.J. Reed allowed just a 55.5 passer rating when targeted last season. Likely to be competing at Slot CB. https://t.co/13BIJ309Ql

Sort of got buried beneath the Hurst-Griffin back-to-back there, but the 49ers just made a terrific pick there with D.J. Reed.
— Chris Burke (@ChrisBurkeNFL) April 28, 2018
D.J. Reed was a 2x first-team All-Big 12 selection at K-State after transferring from JUCO. #49ers needed more playmaking in the secondary, and he has ball skills. pic.twitter.com/PjZz3ZSHk9

The #49ers have now drafted three defensive backs:
— Joe Fann (@Joe_Fann) April 28, 2018
Tarvarius Moore
D.J. Reed
Marcell Harris
The 49ers pick 6-1 Florida safety Marcell Harris in the sixth round. He missed 2017 with a torn right Achilles tendon.
— David Lombardi (@LombardiHimself) April 28, 2018
Harris racked up tackle numbers as a Gator, so likely projects as a strong safety for the 49ers’ Cover 3 in the future.
Harris was a 4-star coming out of high school. 6-1, 216 pound safety. Sounds like he was a big-time player for Florida. Similar strategy to the Kentavius Street selection.

#49ers have drafted Temple DT Jullian Taylor.
— Joe Fann (@Joe_Fann) April 28, 2018
The dude is a monster at 6-foot-5, 280 pounds.
Jullian Taylor’s 12.3 run stop percentage ranked third among qualifying DTs in 2017. #49ers
— Jeff Deeney (@PFF_Jeff) April 28, 2018
#49ers stockpiling athletic DL. D.J. Jones last year; Kentavius Street in the 4th this year, and now Temple DT Jullian Taylor. Setting up to be deep, which aligns with Saleh's rotational philosophy.

Heck of a pick https://t.co/YeR38OooC0

The @49ers just got a STEAL!! The chip just getting bigger n bigger.. stay hungry n humble lil bro I already know what you gone do! @Senseispunk

Richie James had 100+ catches in both 2015 and 2016 and his 24 missed tackles in 2016 were T-3rd among WRs. #49ers
— Jeff Deeney (@PFF_Jeff) April 28, 2018
#49ers WR Richie James is an underrated player. I liked Trent Taylor last year. Love Pettis. James i like more than most, too.
